Open Audition Info

To launch this ‘living media' concept, SSFilms Ltd will be holding open auditions across the south east of the UK in the search for fresh acting talent to play the key characters of our pioneering Internet soap opera: CHALKHILL. The auditions are open to anyone serious about an acting career, aged 8 to 80.

WARNING: the audition process will be vigorous. We are looking for a clear demonstration of acting technique, acting experience and professional attitude. Wannabe's need not apply.

Our CHALKHILL ‘Cast Search' open auditions will be taking place across the south east of Britain at the following locations on the following dates:

Audition Round One

Saturday 18th October - Babylon nightclub, Portsmouth - 8am to 6pm
Sunday 19th October - Babylon nightclub, Portsmouth - 8am to 6pm

Saturday 25th October - Oceana nightclub, Southampton - 8am to 6pm

Saturday 1st November - Oceana nightclub, Brighton - 8am to 6pm

Saturday 8th November - Oceana nightclub, Kingston, London - 8am to 6pm

 CHALKHILL characters

By the end of Sunday 14th December we aim to announce those chosen to play the CHALKHILL cast.

Applicants can specify which venue they wish to attend. We will endeavour to audition all applicants subject to time and resources.

The audition process will involve six progression stages, with talent being eliminated at each level. All applicants should ensure they are available to attend each progression stage. Stages two to five will take place in Portsmouth, UK at weekends.

To apply for these auditions, applicants can either telephone our premium rate hotline number 09050 040833 to book their audition appointment, getting them priority treatment at the audition venues, or they can register with us by email free of charge (see info below) and arrive at the venue of their choice to wait in line until they are called for.

All applicants will need to perform the following script at the audition:

PAUL LOOKS AT SOME OLD BABY PHOTOS OF HIM SAT ON HIS FATHER'S KNEE.

PAUL:

He was a right pain in the arse. I hated him for what he did to mum. He was always belittling me, saying I wouldn't amount to much. I got my ‘A' Levels though, he was surprised about that. I said some really bad things before he left. Sometimes I wished him dead. And now he is and I'll never be able to tell him that I loved him.

PAUL LETS GO AND REALLY CRIES HIS HEART OUT.

Please bring with you to the audition everything you need to make a compelling performance. You should also ignore the specified gender of the scripted character and play the scene as yourself.

You should also bring with you to present at your audition a largish recent photo of yourself (it must look like you, this is vital!) and an up to date copy of your acting CV highlighting all training and roles (TV and stage) you have undertaken to date.

Only those applicants pre-registered with us will be invited to audition. You will be told as soon as you have completed the first audition stage whether you are through to the next audition round.

Those auditioning you will include Steven Surridge - Creator and Executive Producer of CHALKHILL - a lead writer from the soap's creative team and a senior member of the production team.

Why does SSFilms Ltd charge for enrolment?

SSFilms Ltd does not actually receive £1.50 from each call per minute as the Network Operator takes a significant share. What revenue SSFilms Ltd does receive helps pay for the administration and staffing of this interactive audition mechanism. It should be noted that SSFilms Ltd is not running these services with a view to making a profit.
